In other content news, popular UK satellite broadcasting company Sky has announced they will follow their US counterparts in launching a dedicated 3D channel on October 1.
The channel has actually been active since April, but has only featured a handful of live English football games and some other promo 3D material drumming up support.
Viewers will require a subscription to the Sky+ HD package and a 3D-enabled television as well as some active-shutter glasses to enjoy the action, which will feature three days of live Ryder Cup coverage and two 3D films, Bolt and Monster vs Aliens, over the first weekend of broadcast.
If anything will drive cable 3D TV in the UK it is the Premier League, so its no surprise to see Sky using it as a vehicle here, helping the UK catch up to the US in terms of available 3D content on the TV wire.
